Unroll.Me, New Service That Simplifies Canceling Emails Subscriptions : Unroll.Me is a new service that simplifies the process of unsubscribing from email subscriptions ( video ). The service searches the user’s inbox and generates a list of all their email subscriptions. The user can then unsubscribe from any email subscriptions they no longer wish to receive—the service automates the process of unsubscribing. 공유와 개방산업의 신화를 열어가는 ZipCar : from FastCompany.com 지난 12월 쏘나타 하이브리드 차량 100대가 제주도에서의 카쉐어링 사업에 제공된다는 뉴스가 있었다. 사업은 쏘카(SoCar)라는 업체를 통해 제공되는데, 주택가나 시내 주차된 쉐어링 차량을 주유비와 보험료가 포함된 가격으로 시간당 대여하는 차량이용 서비스이다. 제주 시내 30여 곳과 유명 숙박시설을 중심으로 주차존을 설치하고 여행객에게 서비스를 개시한다고 하는데, 선진국에서 이미 성공한 "공유경제" 모델이 국내에서도 정착될 수 있는지 시금석과도 같은 프로젝트라 관심이 간다. 쏘카의 사업모델은 사실 미국의 짚카(ZipCar)라는 회사의 서비스를 그대로 벤치마킹한 것이다. 짚카는 현재 전 세계 50개 도시에서 60만 명이 넘는 멤버를 가지고 있는 초대형 서비스로 성장했는데, 올해 매출액이 1억 3천만 달러를 넘는다. 이렇게만 보면 엄청나게 성공한 서비스를 벤치마킹한 것임에는 틀림이 없지만, 짚카의 역사를 보면 그것이 그렇게 순조롭지만은 않았다는 것을 알 수 있다. 쏘카의 경우 짚카의 성공사례가 있고, 제주도의 특수성을 감안할 때 상당히 성공가능성이 높다고 생각하지만, 앞으로 우리 사회의 여러 문제를 해결하는데 중요한 하나의 방법이 될 수 있는 "공유경제"가 자리잡는데 있어 중요하기 때문에 개인적으로 서비스가 잘 안착했으면 하는 바램이다. 짚카는 1999년에 시작한 12년차 서비스이다. 첫 해에는 단 75명 만이 가입을 했다고 한다. 일단 차량을 확보하는 것으로 시작하기 때문에, 그만큼 믿고 맡기는 사람을 찾기가 어려웠던 것이다. 시작한지 4년이 지난 2003년에도 짚카가 확보한 멤버는 6,000여 명에 도시도 3개 정도만 커버할 수 있었다. 이렇게 부진했지만, 짚카는 이들의 미래를 읽은 미국 벤처캐피탈의 펀딩으로 서비스를 지속하는 것이 가능했다. 그렇지만, 결국 초기 창업자였던 로빈 체이스(Robin Chase)는 이사회에 의해 쫓겨나고, ...
